In view of the unsuccessful terrorist attack against the Amsterdam-Detroit flight of Northwest-Delta Airlines on 25 December 2009, passenger screening activities serving the security of passengers have also been tightened in Ferihegy.

Prior to boarding certain flights, passenger screeners at the airport search the clothes and carry-on baggage of all passengers repeatedly and ensure heightened control of boarding cards.

Therefore, all passengers are kindly asked to come to the airport earlier than usual and to expect more extensive screening activities. They will need to be patient during screening, as the new rules have been introduced in order to increase their security. Budapest Airport Zrt., the airport operator, deploys additional staff and re-adjusts work rosters to ensure that passengers could board their flights as quickly as possible. The Airport Police Directorate continues to support the work of passenger screeners with continues police presence at screening points.
